[i]sans_peur: It's midnight and I'm a nutter.

I'm STILL waiting on the last of ONE THOUSAND THIRTY SIX PAGE "History of Tyrra" tome to finish printing. And that really only represents history info for about 50% of the "known" lands of Tyrra. Far too many of my pages are awaiting in game material still.

But this means I'll get home around 1 am, rush to pack for the Feast tomorrow night, not get to do the baking I'd hoped to, and not get enough sleep before my a.m. appointment.

But at least I'll have the compiled Atlases of Tyrra to lug around with me.

It's obsessive. I know it's obsessive. And yet it's also like a cool archaeological dig. I'm learning a great deal about data culling and about world building in the process (both what to and what NOT to do). And some little geeky part of me feels it needs to be done before the final death knell tolls one of these days.

[i]jjmarika: random larping thoughts

Just wrote up Omi's will, which was mostly interesting/amusing in that it made things pretty clear in terms of where Omi's priorities are. Also a little depressing.

Also, the more I learn about 7V, the more I wish I was playing Omi in that game. Omi is sort of perfect for 7V, and would do extremely well in it. Much better than in NERO, honestly. Ah well.

[i]jjmarika: To the people who are coming to the National event...

If you're coming up from many hours south of here, weather update:

It's not supposed to get out of the 20s on Saturday. Last I saw was a high of 24. Bring lots of warm stuff. The site isn't large, and the one building we have access to is heated, but I can't imagine we'll be spending much time in said building.

Also... I have it on good authority that staff has scheduled one half-hour for eating in the afternoon. There is a small refrigerator and a microwave on site, if you want to pick something up from the food store to eat.

[i]jjmarika: New Years and Happy Birthday

First off, happy birthday to [info]winterswan and [info]gianajho! Hope that this year is even better than the last. (Though I hope it's a bit tough to top, given that you both got married last year.)

[i]sans_peur: Things I'm giving away to good homes...

I have an HP 4M laser printer - it's THE workhorse printer - best printer HP ever made. It's probably printed a couple hundred thousand pages for me - I've done one refurb kit on it in the 18 years I've owned it. Its only problem is it has a broken tray feed indicator, so it doesn't see the paper in the lower tray (still does fine with the upper fold down feeder). There are websites that provide fake-out fixes for this, but I haven't used it in a year and haven't gotten round to fixing it, so clearly I don't need it. It's the kind of printer that printer repair geeks have asked if I'd sell to 'em when I go in for parts, so I'd expect you'd get another hundred thousand pages or more if it's kept up well.

I have a 2" thick memory foam mattress topper for a queen sized bed that I no longer need since I got a new bed

I *may* have an oxy-acetylene torch kit (no tanks) if my local non-profit craft center doesn't want it - good for plumbers/welders/glassworkers and VERY professional jewelers - not a beginner torch

I'll probably have some odds and ends furniture as I clear things up, which I'll post separately, as well as other bits and pieces.

If you want any of these things and are within about 20 minutes of Fairfield County (southern CT) or in the greater Hartford area,  I can get 'em to you. Otherwise, I may be able to arrange a handoff when I'm up in Eastern Mass in the next week or two, but I'd like to get rid of things sooner if possible.

[i]tragic_culture: [Rare Politik] Apparently Gay Marriage is not the biggest threat...unless...

I rarely post about anything political anymore because, well, people like the argue. They like to argue a LOT and, sadly, emotionally, like to use irrational but salient points (which are generally anecdotal and which they truly know nothing about) as their basis for (then) rational arguement (see also; Christianity).

THAT said, the Chief Architect of the Bush Years just proved, that, personally, Gay Marriage *isn't* the biggest threat to Heterosexual Marriage...unless...!!

Karl Rove - the former top aide to President George W. Bush - and his wife, Darby, were granted a divorce last week, family friend Dana Perino confirmed to CNN.

"The couple came to the decision mutually and amicably, and they maintain a close relationship and a strong friendship. There will be no further comment and the family requests that its privacy be respected," Perino said in an e-mail to CNN.

The two were married in 1986 and have one son.

[i]tiafallen: Have you seen my passion? its around here somewhere, right?

in the history of me i have never ever made  a serious "new years resolutions" and i am not starting now.  what i have decided to do is find my way out of my blanket maze and try and locate a passion.  i plan on spending the year investigating various "hobbies"/"activities" to discover if there is anything i am passionate about.  i like a lot of things, but nothing that i look forward to doing, nothing that i plan a way to do everyday no matter how busy i am, besides the gym of course, but that is whole different bag of worms.  I have a habit of starting a lot of things and if they don't come out perfectly the first time, i tend to throw that aside for something else.  i figure i am 31, have a loving fiance, two loving kitties, you would think that would be enough..but somehow its not. i want to create somthing, be it a casserole, or a picture.  i want to create somthing people will like...so that is my assignment for this year.  Find my passion.  so i am willing on here to take any ideas for things to try.  no matter who wacky or out there it is i will try it. maybe not right away but it will get tried.  so feel no fear, and send me your ideas.  i could really use em...

later!

[i]tragic_culture: [NERO] When all else fails, head for the Hills...of Georgia

http://galarppark.com/GA_LARP_Park_BrimRose_Commons_Intro.htm

Any website intro that begins:

"World renowned LARP enthusiast Val Jolenti..." and doesn't immediately end in uproarious laughter...will shortly.

Behold, in all its Majesty; Ye Ole (BrimRose) Commons; current and future of home of grammer and noted auto-biographist...well; we all know who this guy is:

Be astounded with the newest in LARP Parks!

--Thrill to what appears to be described as a *School Bus* converted into a Tavern!

"The Tavern/Bus needs more work, like adding an awning and wood branches on its sides to hide the metal or painting it with black lines to make it look like rock, or both."

--Wonder at the Genius of Living on Site; thereby claiming Yardwork as Camp Improvement Projects!

"mowed the lawn for 2 days. Dismembered fallen tree"

--Be Dazzled by using "double-think" to turn a Rut without a bridge into an interactive prop by use of blow down!

"We have placed a tree across the dry creek, 20’ long, adding at least one fun physical challenge to the park."

And, as always, cringe over not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 sets of Rules!!

http://galarppark.com/GA_LARP_Park_LARP_Rules.htm

PS: For a special bonus encounter; check out the Kid's Birthday Party packages!

"We sit around the dry creek on our property and have the children try and solve 25 Riddles."

Sometimes this stuff just writes itself, folks.
